The Volta Regional Director of the National Sports Authority Mr Kwami Amponfi jnr. has promoted the Duamenefa Super Gala and Marathon to Regional Tournament.
Mr. Amponfi Jnr. made this declaration when he witnessed the final grand ceremonies of the 2018 edition of the tournament at DZOSEC Park on Saturday the 15th day of September 2018
The year’s tournament which is it’s second edition is ” UNIFICATION THROUGH Duamenefa Super Gala and Marathon is an annual sporting event instituted by a Private Commercial Fm, Fafaa 100.3 Fm with its associate Non Governmental Organization ( NGO) called ” Duamenefa Foundation,” vested with the mandate to promote and foster peaceful coexistence of people within their various communities through resolution of spiritual and diabolical conflicts by means of engaging relevant stakeholders to educate the perpetrators to abide by the provisions of the 1992 constitution of the Republic of Ghana
The Duamenefa Foundation has over 13,000 registered and certified volunteers, it’s membership is scattered across various communities all over the Volta Region with continuous registration of new members on daily basis. Hence the need for the Duamenefa Super Gala and Marathon cannot be overemphasized.
The theme for this SPORTS FOR DEVELOPMENT- THE ROLE OF THE YOUTH.

The aforementioned clubs hails from various district and municipalities such as Keta, Ketu North, Ketu South, Akatsi North, Akatsi South, North Tongu, South Tongu four Female teams were among as female group, whiles we’ve had four male teams from the republic of TOGO, making the event more of an international tournament, with spectators from republic of TOGO participating at all match venues
The tournament with its fixing and fixtures cut across the various district capitals where 133 football matches were played from the 9th day of June to the 15th September 2018, with ABOR DOLLAR FC of Keta Municipal emerging winners of the trophy and GLIDZI PEACE MAKERS of Ketu South Municipal took the second position
The marathon competition covers a distant of 25 kilometers for the male category from Denu traffic light to Dzodze Demonstration School Park, and the female category also covers a distant of 19 kilometers from Wudoaba to same spot, where a total of 77 competitors made up of 56 male and 21 females tussle in racing. Akligo Christopher won the first position of the male category at 1 hour 21 minutes with Jennifer Anani of the female category as 1st position at 1 hour 8 minutes

Anlo Kingdom) The Divisional Chief of Keta Traditional Area Togbi James Ocloo

Paramount Chief of Afife traditional area Togbi Adrakpanya, Togbi Adzonugaga
Amenya Fiti of Aflao Traditional were duly represented by their entourage of
Chiefs
Mr. Amponfi, upon careful examination of the caliber of people constituting the organizing committees , led by Mr. Christian Gamado with additional 19 members, the expertise deployed in making the organization a success, the caliber of referees of the southern Volta referees association led by FIFA recognized referee Atimaka and Tsey , and over 20, 000 spectators who do throng all match centers until the final of finals , he has no hesitation but commended the efforts of the organizers and also promoted the tournament to become a regional event to be supported by the Ghana Football Association Volta Region
Mr. Amponfi also spotted 8 players to be elevated by the GFA.
Representatives from Michael Essien Football Academy led by their Country Director, Mr. Eazyman were also present and succeeded in selecting quite a number of players for marketing to the world
Also were delegations from Community Enhancement Foundation an NGO, led by their Executive President, Madam Caroline Kudah – Parker were duly represented with an offer of scholarship to 5 deserving marathon racers, to be giving an opportunity of free education to tertiary level, the community enhancement foundation did same during last year’s tournament to one deserving participant and increase the number to 5 this year
In another development, the Deputy Minister of Information, Hon. Pius Hadzide donated GHc 2,000.00 ( Two thousand Ghana cedis) to support Abor Dollar FC for winning the keenly contested finals. Mr. Pius Hadzide also commended Fafaa 100.3 Fm with its affiliate NGO, the Duamenefa Foundation for effective organization of this great tournament, the first of its kind existing in the Volta Region, with the objective to Promote Peace and unearthed the hidden talents of our youths in the field of Football and Marathon, whiles Duamenefa Foundation has succeeded in marketing some youths to the world as at last year it is expected that this year’s achievement will exceed that of last year. Mr. Pius Hadzide reiterated the NPP’s commitment to support the Duamenefa Foundation and Fafaa 100.3 fm Dzodze, to lift this tournament to the National Level, he urged the spectators and participants to put their support behind the government in power to realize its stated objectives and obligation to the people.
The Regional Football Association’s Chairman, Mr. Dogbatsey was not left out, he applauded the organizers, pledge the RFA’s support to the Duamenefa Foundation and Fafaa 100.3 Fm. Mr. Dogbatsey donated 2 footballs to support the various awards
The divisional chiefs collectively commended the giant strides taken by the Mr. Amponfi to promote the Duamenefa Super Gala and Marathon to Regional event, they also pledge to support Mr. Amponfi in their capacity as traditional rulers to enable his laudable initiatives being implemented for the people of the Volta Region
Mr. Emmanuel Ketaman Evortepe who double as the Chief Executive Officer of Fafaa 100.3 fm Dzodze and same time the Executive President of the Duamenefa Foundation, used the opportunity to appreciate the collaborations of all including the Ghana Police Force , The Ghana Immigration Service, The Ghana Customs, The Bureau of National Investigations, the Ghana Fire Service, the Ambulance Service, the Ghana Red Cross, people who contributes their time, talent and resources towards the success of the tournament
Mr. Ketaman Evortepe expressed their heartfelt appreciations to all and most especially to Mr. Amponfi jnr who is barely six month old in office as the Volta Regional Director of Sports but was quick to identify the effort of the Duamenefa Foundation and it’s Fafaa 100.3 Fm towards promoting sports in the Volta Region
He prayed and trust God that collectively, Volta Region would soon be placed at the sun kiss of the future summits in the game of sports
