DUAMENEFA REGIONAL TOURNAMENT – GRAND FINALE

The Regional Director of Sports, of the National Sports Authority has commended the annual effort of the organizers of the Fafaa FM’s Duamenefa Regional Tournament where 104 football clubs have been competing in this year’s tournament from the 8th June to the 16th November, 2019. According to Mr. Amponfi Kwami Jnr, this is the first time a private entity has put in place such a great number of football clubs to compete in a tournament.

The Duamenefa Regional tournament is considered by most people as the “OLYMPIC GAMES OF THE VOLTA REGION”. The tournament would witness its grand finale on Saturday, the 16th day of November, 2019.

The same day is scheduled to witness the official outdooring of the 9-year old social intervention NGO, The Duamenefa Foundation, whose branch office was commissioned in the USA state of Alabama in the month of October. The Foundation has also connected with foreign scouts from the USA, UK and the Czech Republic through its International Coordinator, Mr. Patrick Amazing Dormekpor, a Ghanaian sports analyst, based in the United States of America, for the purpose of promoting the best talented footballers in the region.

The Duamenefa Regional Tournament is an initiative of Fafaa 100.3 FM, a private commercial radio station based in Dzodze, Ketu North Municipality of the Volta Region, and its NGO, the Duamenefa Foundation. The Foundation is vested with the mandate to promote investigations and reconciliation of hitherto antagonistic mystical conflicts to enable peaceful coexistence of people in their various communities.

The Duamenefa Foundation has over 15,800 registered volunteers scattered across the various communities of the Volta Region with the mandate to promote the core objectives of the Foundation, which includes the promotion of youth and sports in the various communities. Hence the effort to organize 104 football teams to feature in the aforementioned tournament cannot be overemphasized.

Mr. Emmanuel Ketaman Evortepe, the Chief Executive Officer of Fafaa 100.3 FM, who is also the Executive President of the Duamenefa Foundation, commended the National Sports Authority for promoting the tournament to regional status during the 2018 event. He used the occasion of a radio interview to appeal to the new RFA Chairman, Mr. Daniel Agboga and Madam Innocentia Agbavitor, the Chairperson of RAG, to collaborate with the Regional Director of the National Sports Council in support of the tournament.

The grand finale would begin as early as 5:00 am with a marathon competition of 60 athletes to cover a distant of 26 kilometers from Denu junction in Ketu South to Dzodze Demonstration Park in the Ketu North. This will be followed by the tussle of championship for the female cup between Ave Shining Ladies FC of Akatsi North District and Anlo Ladies FC of Woe in the Anloga District of the Volta Region.

The fight for the male gigantic gold-plated trophy with its cash awards in the sum of Ghc 3,200.00 in addition to Jersey’s, footballs and other sports paraphernalia would be the tussle of the “clash of the titans” of the day; Korpeyia United FC of Ketu South up against Eleme Sovie FC of Ketu North. The two teams made it to the finals after a successful huddle through the 104 teams from Keta, Ketu, Akatsi, Ave, Sogakorpe, Akosombo, and Greater Accra.

Saturday November 16th 2019 is indeed a day to watch out at the Dzosec Park. Guests of honor are Reverend Ministers, Traditional Rulers, MMDCEs, MPs, the Overlord of Ewe Kingdom in person of the Awormefia of Anlo, Togbi Sri III and His Eminence Person Chief Francis Albert Nyonyo, the Member of the Council of State, Presidency Ghana are top on the list of the invited guest to witness this grand event.
