MCE ALLEGEDLY INSTRUCTED POLICE COMMANDER TO RELEASE CRIMINALS

Togbi Anumu the Chief Fisherman of Salakorpe in the Ketu South Municipality of the Volta Region has alleged that Hon. Maxwell Lugodor, the Municipal Chief Executive of the Ketu South Municipality has instructed the Denu Police Commander, ASP Joseph Nakujah to release alleged criminals who were caught in the middle of the night stealing 34 bags of cement out of the allocation meant for the construction of warehousing units for the deprived tidal waves victims of Salakorpe Community.

THE VEHICLE PACKED FULL OF CEMENT

The alleged criminals, namely, Kugblenu Prince, aged 25 years, Wegbe Bright, aged 27, with the driver and one Mr. Elo Bleboo, the team leader, who allegedly said he will expose other members of the cartel if they dare arrest him. The criminals used an Opel Astra Saloon Taxi with registration Number AE 804 – 12 to steal the cement.

The community intelligence team made up of volunteers of the Duamenefa Foundation Social Intervention NGO of Fafaa 100.3 FM, Dzodze gave a tip off to the police on the activities of the criminals. The District Commander ASP Nakujah, deployed policemen to effect the arrest at about 1:00 am on Thursday the 22nd September, 2022.

According to the Chief fisherman, the Police Commander, Mr. Nakujah claimed he has to release the criminals on instructions of the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Maxwell Lugodor, this allegedly confirmed the assertion of Mr. Bleboo, the leader of the alleged syndicates of Salakorpe Community.

When Fafaa FM contacted the MCE for clarification on this allegation, he confirmed to Fafaa FM that he did instruct the police to release the alleged criminals because they are members of the construction hence there is no need to prosecute the case.

The people of Salakorpe are wondering why the Municipal Chief should interfere in the affairs of the police. Is the contract awarded to a group of criminals? Has the police become a stooge in the hands of politicians or is it the case that the criminals belong to the political party of the MCE.

Divisional Commander of Ketu South, ACP Daniel Dzaka

The Executive President of the Duamenefa Foundation and CEO of Fafaa FM, Mr. Emmanuel Ketaman Evortepe expresses his disappointment on the flagrant disregard and abuse of office by the Municipal Chief Executive Officer of Ketu South, Mr. Maxwell Lugodor, who acted without recourse to the 1992 constitutional provisions on the prosecution of criminal cases and the criminal code of the Republic of Ghana. Have the police become a political tool in the hands of the politicians? He fumed.

Watch out for further development. …………

May Fafa FM and Duamenefa live forever! It’s so disheartening to hear that MCE who should know better could rather condone with criminality. This issue mustn’t be swept under the carpet. We must follow up to the apex. Thank you Ketaman
