Insurance Company Support Bereaved Student Family

Westom Insurance Brokers and Milife Insurance, Accra, have shown their commitment to supporting students and their families with a generous donation. A cheque of GHS 10,000 was presented to the bereaved family of Tetteh Wise, a first-year student of Anlo Technical Institute, in the Anloga District of the Volta Region, who sadly passed away.

The late Tetteh was the son of Madam Akos Kattah and Mr. Raphael Tettevi of Dzita and Vui-Keta, communities, respectively

According to Mr. Christian Atsu, National Chairman of NCPTA, this donation is part of an insurance policy initiated by the National Council of Parent-Teacher Association of Ghana.

He further states that the policy aims to provide support to students during their three-year stay in school, helping them overcome challenges that might lead to school dropout.

The policy was created in response to the risks students face while travelling to and from school, including road accidents and other unforseen circumstances

The insurance cover also provides support for students who survive accidents but become financial burdens on their families due to permanent or temporary disability.

The policy provides the widest scope of cover under a group education insurance policy in Ghana, including:

– Death of parents/guardians
– Death of students
– Accidental/permanent disability or critical illness of students
– Students’ maintenance allowance

However, there are exclusions, including involvement in terrorism, self-inflicted injury, and participation in civil commotion or warlike operations.

Mr. Jerome Apetorgbor, Vice Principal of Antec, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the insurance companies and NCPTA for bringing this policy to reality and supporting their student. He promised to ensure all parents were well-informed and educated about this vital policy.
