Duamenefa Foundation Promoting Peaceful coexistence
Magic Fingers Volleyball team of Anlo Afiadenyigba in the Keta Municipality of the Volta Region yesterday placed third after beating Benadzi Thunder Spikers 3-0 in the ongoing Duamenefa Regional Tournament’s Maiden Volleyball Competition at Dzodze.
The tournament consists of ten volleyball teams from various constituencies of the region.
Speaking with Mr. Wisdom Dorvlo, the head of sports of Fafaa 100.3 Fm, Dzodze, Mr. Atsu Raphael, the coach of the team claimed he was very grateful for winning the Bronze Medal. He call on the organizers of the tournament to do more in the interest of volley ball competition in the Region.
“The officials, I will say, did excellently well; from the group stage up until this time, no team has complained of cheating or anything unusual; kudos to them,” said Mr. Atsu.
“To the organizers, they have also done a great job, although their efforts may not be perfect we hope for improvement in the coming seasons”
Mr. Atsu further states that “Even though we won today, I am not happy because this is not what we promised our people; we promised them the trophy, but we thank God for giving us this one, its a consolation prize, and I want to assure my people that would come back stronger next season for the trophy.”
He again appeals to the organizers to involve the coaches in decision-making next in the coming seasons.
In another development, Mr. Isaac Awuku, the coach of the rival team, Thunder Spikers, told Fafaa FM’s Wisdom Dorvlo that “this is our first tournament ever, and I believe we have done well.
He claimed, people thought we would be eliminated at the group stage, but we have proved them wrong. We were hoping to place third, but its ok, we will come back next year.
“He also appealed to the organizers to involve them in decision-making in the coming seasons.
Mr. Awuku appeals to the committee to launch next season’s tournament at Benadzi and they should be considered for a consolation for placing fourth.
He concluded by appreciating the organizers for good job done .
The finals of the volleyball competition is schedule to come forth on Friday, 6th September, 2024, between Aflao All Spikers and Shockwaves Spikers from Afife at Dzodze R.C. Demonstration School.
