The Anlo Dukor Council is set to launch the 2024 Hogbeza Festival at Tsiame on August 21, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. This year’s festival, themed “Strengthening Bonds and Embracing Our Shared Heritage,” marks a significant milestone in the Anlo Kingdom’s calendar.
The council has extended an invitation to all Paramount Chiefs, urging them to attend with their full retinue, including chiefs within their traditional area. This collective presence will emphasize unity, showcase the rich traditions of Anlo, and strengthen the resolve to protect and promote heritage.
The Hogbetsotso Festival, celebrated by the people of Anlo in the Volta Region of Ghana, commemorates the Ewe history and the legendary exodus from the rule of the tyrant King Torgbui Agorkorli of Nortsie in Togo. The festival begins in November at Anloga, the traditional and ritual capital of the Anlo Kingdom.
Mr. Ken Kpedor, Chairman of the Anlo Youth Council, highlighted the significance of the Hogbeza festival in bringing development to Anlo and emphasized its importance as a priority festival in Ghana. He appealed to the youths of Anlo to support the launch of Hogbetsotso Za at Tsiame in Keta Municipal, Volta Region, Ghana.
