The Anlo Dukor Council made a grand appearance at Jubilee Park in Ho, as they warmly received President John Dramani Mahama during his recent tour on January 24, 2025. The council’s esteemed members, adorned in traditional regalia, showcased the rich cultural heritage of the Anlo people.
His Excellency president John Dramani Mahama exchanging pleasantries with King Amenya Fiti IV the paramount King of Aflao traditional council during a thank you visit to Ho, Volta Region.
Prominent leaders in attendance included:
- Togbi Gbordzor III, Dusifiaga of Dukor
- Togbi Agbesi Awusu II, Awadada of Anlo Dukor
- Togbi Nyaho Tamakloe VI, Mifiaga of Anlo Dukor, Head of Adzovia clan of Anlo, Paramount Chief of Shime-Kome Traditional Area, and Dufia of Whuti
- Togbi Tenge Dzokoto Gligui VI, Dufia of Anyako-Konu, Head of Bate clan of Anlo, and Paramount Chief of Amugo-Wego Traditional Area.
During the visit, President Mahama expressed his gratitude to the people of the Volta Region for their overwhelming support in the 2024 elections. He also outlined his vision for the region’s development, making several key promises to the people.
Some of the notable promises made by President Mahama include:
- Infrastructure Development: Construction of the Eastern Corridor road and the Ho to Denu road to improve connectivity and facilitate economic growth.
- Aviation Hub: Transformation of the Ho Airport into a pilot training facility, positioning the region as a hub for aviation excellence.
- Coastal Protection: Implementation of the sea defence project in Anlo to protect coastal communities from the ravages of the sea.
- Port Development: Review of the Keta Port project to unlock its economic potential and create jobs for the local population.
The President’s commitments were met with enthusiasm and optimism by the people of the Volta Region, who expressed their appreciation for his vision and leadership. As one attendee aptly put it, “So far so good”. God bless Ghana.
