Ketu North Municipality, Ghana – February 16, 2025
A third-year student of Weta Senior High Technical School, Worwui Evans D.O, has been confirmed dead at the Ketu North Municipal Hospital. The incident has raised concerns about the alleged irresponsible behavior of a teacher, Mr. Simon Amedegbe.
According to eyewitnesses, the student complained of severe stomach pains around 9:00 pm the previous night, after eating. Despite his pleas for permission to seek medical attention, Mr. Amedegbe allegedly refused, citing that he was busy eating.
Fellow students, who spoke to Fafaa Radio, confirmed that Mr. Amedegbe’s refusal to grant permission was not an isolated incident. The students alleged that this behavior was a regular occurrence.
The next morning, the student’s condition deteriorated, and he was rushed to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The news sparked widespread anger and demonstrations among the student body.
The incident attracted the attention of local law enforcement, with a team from the Keta Police and Dzodze Ketu Municipal Police intervening to restore order. The Ketu North Municipal Commander eventually arrived to intervene.
The circumstances surrounding the student’s death are currently under investigation. Authorities are working to determine the facts and circumstances that led to this tragic event.
The school administration and local authorities have pledged to take necessary actions to ensure the safety and well-being of students.
The incident has sparked an outpouring of condolences from the school community and beyond.
This is a developing story, and further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
