Duamenefa Foundation Apologizes to Traditional Rulers Over Seating Delay at Grand Durbar

The Duamenefa Foundation has rendered an apology to some traditional rulers who were left standing for a while before being offered seats during the Duamenefa Grand Durbar held on Saturday, 18th October 2025, at the Dzodze-Penyi SHS Park in the Ketu North Municipality of the Volta Region.

The Duamenefa Foundation is a non-governmental organization (NGO) with a registered membership of over 48,000 people across the world. The organization is dedicated to promoting peace and unity within communities, which remains its core mandate. Through various programs and outreach activities, the Foundation has been instrumental in resolving conflicts and fostering social harmony in Ghana and beyond.

The annual Grand Durbar, organized by the Foundation, attracted a large number of participants this year, including government officials, invited guests, and several traditional rulers from across the region. The event, which seeks to strengthen communal ties and celebrate peace, recorded one of its highest attendance figures since its inception.

However, due to the unexpectedly large turnout, the organizers experienced a shortage of chairs. This led to a situation where some traditional rulers had to remain standing for a while before seats were made available. The incident caught the attention of several chiefs and dignitaries who were present at the durbar grounds.

During the thanksgiving and remarks session at the close of the program, some of the traditional rulers expressed concern about the seating arrangements. They noted that it was inappropriate for traditional leaders to be left standing at such a grand occasion and urged the organizers to make better preparations for future editions.

In response, Mr. Ketaman Emmanuel Evortepe, Executive President of the Duamenefa Foundation, rendered a heartfelt apology to the affected traditional rulers. He clarified that the situation was not intentional but was caused by the unexpected crowd size, which resulted in a temporary shortage of chairs. Mr. Evortepe assured the chiefs that the Foundation deeply respects traditional authorities and will take measures to prevent a recurrence in future Durbars.

The Duamenefa Grand Durbar has become one of the most anticipated cultural events in the Volta Region, bringing together thousands of people each year to celebrate peace, unity, and development. Despite the brief seating challenge, the 2025 edition was widely regarded as a success, showcasing colorful displays of culture, music, and traditional performances that highlighted the rich heritage of the region.
