Duamenefa Foundation President Calls for Unity in Weta Traditional Area

The Executive President of the Duamenefa Foundation, Mr. Emmanuel Ketaman Evortepe, also known as Torgbui Duamenefa I, has called for unity among the chiefs and people of the Weta Traditional Area.

Speaking during the celebration of the Weta Morluza Festival, Mr. Evortepe emphasized the importance of peace and collaboration in fostering development within communities. He noted that no one takes material possessions beyond this world; therefore, it is essential for people to work together to build their communities.

Mr. Evortepe appealed to the chiefs and people of the Weta Traditional Area to exercise patience and settle whatever issues exist peacefully and amicably, stressing that dialogue and understanding are the best tools for sustainable development.

He further expressed concern that misunderstandings among some chiefs have become too frequent, leading to situations where two individuals are fighting over one chieftaincy stool. He stated that the Duamenefa Foundation is praying for divine intervention and assured that the Foundation will soon embark on official visits to the paramount chiefs in the various traditional areas to discuss these matters. He added that a formal announcement will be made at the appropriate time regarding the outcomes of those engagements.

Torgbui Duamenefa I also reaffirmed his personal commitment to support conflict resolution efforts in the area, stating that he is ready to lead such initiatives if necessary to ensure peace and progress. According to him, when families or communities are in conflict, it is outsiders who benefit the most.

Following his address, His Eminence Dr. Gabriel Kwamiga Tanko Atokple, a Member of the Council of State representing the Volta Region, also appealed for unity and development in the Weta Traditional Area. He expressed concern over the growing division among some chiefs regarding the paramount chieftaincy title, which has reportedly led to the celebration of two separate festivals.

Dr. Atokple lamented that this attitude is absolutely an act of collapsing the community and must stop immediately, emphasizing that the people of Weta need to unite for progress rather than division. He warned that continued disunity could seriously undermine the development goals of the Traditional Area.

The Duamenefa Foundation, a non-governmental organization with over 48,000 registered members worldwide, is dedicated to promoting peaceful coexistence and conflict resolution within communities.
